Nova Scotia's oldest performing arts venue was built in 1902 as part of the historic town hall, the theatre was originally known as the Liverpool Opera House.

In 1979, with increased interest in live presentation, the Astor began presenting local talent through the Winds of Change Dramatic Society. With the installation of a new thrust stage, the stage area was increased to accommodate larger and larger performing acts. In June 1987 The Astor Theatre Society was incorporated as a non-profit, charitable organization.

The Astor has played host to many touring artists including Matt Andersen, George Canyon, Barra MacNeils, Stewart MacLean, Ron James, Rita MacNeil, Natalie MacMaster, Tommy Hunter, Carroll Baker, George Fox, Mr. Dressup, Symphony Nova Scotia, Debut Atlantic and the Royal Shakespeare Company to name a few. The acoustics of this building are some of the best in the province. The Astor is a wonderful place to enjoy entertainment of all kinds.

Privateer Park

Privateer Park, a 3 acre site situated on the Liverpool waterfront skirts the historic Mersey River when combined with adjacent Centennial Park  and the Visitor Information Centre there is a 4.4 acre entertainment site.

Major events hosted onsite have included the annual Memorial Auto Show, Privateer Days & music performances, local Privateer Farmers Market and events such as the Canadian Axe Throwing Championships 2018 & 2019.

Queens County Fairgrounds

NS Trunk 8, Caledonia

In 1886, the fair association purchased permanent quarters in Caledonia for ten dollars. As of 1935, it became the Queens County Fair, serving the whole community. Every September, Caledonia gears up for the largest and most popular event at this site - the Queens County Fair. The fair lasts for five days and includes many exhibits from all over Nova Scotia. 

There have been many additions, renovations and improvements at the site over the years including the construction of an illuminated equestrian building for evening use and a 100ft X 200ft riding ring complete with concessions, an additional barn 35ft X 100ft  and the construction of bleachers with capacity for 400 spectators. 

Besides hosting the Fair yearly events such as Canada Day activity, musical performances and  major events such as the 2015 RCMP Musical Ride which attracted 1500 people have been held here. The potential is unlimited. 

Caledonia is uniquely positioned only 15 minutes from Kejimkujik National Park, 20 minutes to nearby Greenfield and  40 minutes to Liverpool.

Greenfield Dragway, South Shore Regional Airport

Operated by the South Shore Flying Club, the South Shore Regional Airport near Greenfield is a working airport.

An added feature at the site is the excitement of Drag Racing – as a spectator or participant – at Greenfield Dragway. Organized by the Nova Scotia Drag Racers Association, a group of dedicated volunteers from Nova Scotia.

The track consists of a 3,937 ft by 75 ft. paved runway, which is used for the drag strip. The runway is part of an active airport that is temporarily shutdown for the drag racing events. There are two concrete starting line pads 12 feet wide by 200 feet long with 125 feet after the start line.

This Airport facility is owned by the Region of Queens Municipality, who has lease arrangements with the Drag Racers and Flying Club.

Within the community of Greenfield 2 full service general stores w/gas serving the area. 25 minutes to Liverpool.

Liverpool Larrupers Recreation Complex

White Point Road, Liverpool

The complex features 3 ball diamonds:1 softball field - Thorbourne Field, a large hardball field Danny Seaman Park. and a little league field. Complete with lighting, canteens and spectator stands. 

Yearly youth and adults enjoy hosting provincial tournaments and local activity. Nearby find a general store and gas station and minutes  away Liverpool core and hotels and restaurants.

 

 

White Point Golf Course

The golf course at White Point has challenged golfers of all levels from around the world. Described by many members and visitors as one of the most picturesque golf course in Atlantic Canada, the course is challenging for the avid golfer with small greens, narrow fairways and strong sea breezes – even more so now after the extensive fairway widening and ocean views were opened up!

This spectacular nine-hole, par 35 oceanside course was established in 1932 shortly after White Point Beach Resort opened, and continues to be one of the most popular parts of the oceanside Beach Resort Community.

Liverpool Curling Club Ice Shed

The Liverpool Curling Club established 1935 has played host to many provincial and local championships over the years. The club is also enjoyed as a venue to host a variety  small events and social entertainment.

LCC is the off season venue for the local Hospital Hustle, a social gathering point for the biennial Liverpool International Theatre Festival, host of social activity for the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships and alternate competition venue for the 2014 Canadian Juniors.

Open for curling, fun and recreation or private rental year round. The clubhouse can seat 120 people for business meetings, weddings, birthday parties, etc. The ice shed is also available for rent April to September. Bar and catering services are available. Contact them for rental rates. and check their website for curling fees and schedules.

 

 

Brooklyn Marina air view

Brooklyn Marina & Waterfront Park

Shore Road, Brooklyn

Open May-October, Brooklyn Marina, a volunteer club, welcomes local and visiting mariners, they can accommodate vessels on floating docks or moorings.

Nearby relax at the Brooklyn Waterfont Park & gazebo often the site for local community music and gatherings.

North Queens Aquatic Centre, Trunk 8, Caledonia

Milton Pool is located at 287 Highway  #8 Milton just 3.5 KM from Queens Place Emera Centre. 

This pool constructed in 1967 serves the local population and guests well in season July & August. Home of the Dambuster swim team.
